A "beautiful view" on three highways
Belleview takes its name from the French belle and vue, "beautiful view." A post office has operated here since 1883, and the city incorporated on May 8, 1885. U.S. Routes 27, 301 and 441 all pass through the center of town and lead about 10 miles northwest to Ocala. The old Belleview School now serves as City Hall. The population grew from 4,492 in 2010 to 5,413 in 2020.
Storm notes
During Irma in 2017, WFTV reported a large water main break in Belleview and a boil-water notice. After Milton in 2024, one of the county's three vegetative debris drop-off sites was set up next to the Belleview Public Library.
Rules
Belleview runs its own city government, and we couldn't locate a published tree ordinance of its own to quote here; City Hall is the place to check before a removal. State rules, including Florida Statutes 163.045 for documented risky trees on home lots and Sunshine 811 before grinding, apply here as everywhere.
Other towns on this site: Dunnellon, Silver Springs Shores, Summerfield, and Ocala itself. See the full list.
